This resource is designed to help teach and practice Year 3/4 statutory spelling and common exception words. It is a powerpoint made up of 24 slides. The first slide is a title page, the second slide introduces the five words that will be practiced and the third slide describes the instructions of the game. Each slide has a sound clip that narrates what is on the slide and slides are set to run automatically so teachers can put this on to run by itself while they do another job for 5 minutes. The slides after have the word with missing letters, an image and a sentence containing the word. Each slide has a narration sound clip saying the word and reading the sentence. The word is practiced three times and then the answer is revealed so students can mark their own work. The final slide is a reflection, asking them to think about which words they got right and which ones need more practice. It can be used in year 3 and 4 or in older years as a short revision activity. All that is needed is something to write with and something to write on (pencil/paper, pen, whiteboard).

It is a fun worksheet where students have to find the key word from the description given then match the answer to the colour to complete the picture. Includes one quiz page of matching definitions to key words with 9 questions, an instructions and example page and a colouring page as well as answers. The document consists of a powerpoint of 4 slides set to A4 size so it can be easily printed. It can be used as a fun starter/recap activity or main activity taking around 10-20 minutes to complete.

This resource is aimed at Year 2 and KS2 students – Year 3, Year 4, Year 5, Year 6. It is for teaching character description and helps students create their own story characters by suggesting lots of details and ideas to spark imagination. It is designed in the way of character creation in a game to keep it engaging. Pupils can work independently or in groups. It can be used as a main activity in an English/Writing lesson for whole class or for small group. The focus is on narrative writing but could be implemented into other objectives. It includes a Powerpoint of 1 slide which is a worksheet set to A4 paper size for easy printing. It should take approximately 20 minutes to complete.

It helps create ideas beyond the normal characters appearance to help students use their imagination and generate deeper and more meaningful characters through the use of special skills and personality. It can also be used in small group catch up or revision sessions as well as interventions on noun phrases and using different vocabulary. It includes a powerpoint slide set to A4 paper size for easy printing. It is a worksheet with lots of suggestions and organised for students to create their characters. This is an adapted worksheet and so contains many key vocabulary and pictures to help understanding and building up vocabulary.
